It is the most delicious time of year in Miami. Over 500 chefs from around the world descend upon Miami Beach for the 23rd annual South Beach Wine and Food Festival.
Foodies and chefs alike can mix and mingle at various locations throughout Greater Miami and Miami Beach this year from February 22-25. Events vary from longstanding fan favorites to new events, brunches, intimate dinners, seminars, classes and walking tastings. The only constant is that every attendee should expect to indulge in creative culinary creations and premium wines and cocktails.
More than just an excuse to eat and drink well, the festival benefits the FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism. To date, the SOBEWFF has raised $37+ million for the school. The motto of this year’s festival is: EAT. DRINK. EDUCATE.
Aside from the monetary contribution, the festival allows more than 1,200 students and volunteers to gain real-world experience by helping to plan and staff the operations. As an added perk, they get to brush elbows with celebrity chefs and winemakers.
What To Expect
If you are looking for a blowout, don’t miss one of the Signature Events such as Rachel Ray’s Burger Bash, Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives LIVE, or Goya Foods Grand Tasting Village. There will be plenty of celebrity sightings and food tastings at all of these.
Being a staple of the festival, Guy Fieri‘s show is a fan favorite. It offers participants the opportunity to be on the show and taste classic dishes from the chefs on his show. Tickets for this are $175 or $250 for early access.
If you are a fan of Bobby Flay, you should try the new Bobby’s Triple Threat at the Kimpton Surfcomber on Saturday. There will be a list of Boobby-selected chefs that will craft three dishes each. They will compete against one another to see who can create the best bite of the night. Tickets for this event are $295 and it is sure to please.
There are countless other large events, brunches and intimate tastings throughout the 4-day event. You can plan your visit and purchase tickets at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival Website.
In addition to the celebrity sightings and tastings, there is an added twist this year. The founder of the SOBEWFF, Brian Lee Schrager, announced to Axios that, “We’re excited to partner with the most influential digital content creators in the food and beverage community to bring FoodieCon to Miami for the very first time for a full day of cooking demos, interactive panels, immersive activations, photo ops and book signings.”
Whether you are into crowds or smaller groups, The South Beach Wine and Food Festival is one of the premiere events offered in Miami each year. It is not to be missed!
