South Beach “SoBe”

Although a lot of visitors refer to “South Beach” when talking about Miami or Miami Beach, South Beach is actually a neighborhood within the City of Miami Beach, which is located on a barrier island 3 miles east of the mainland City of Miami. South Beach, also referred to as “SoBe,” is a vibrant area located at the southern end of Miami Beach from 23rd Street south to South Pointe Park. In addition, South Beach encompasses the affluent South of Fifth neighborhood, which is recognized for its 5-star restaurants and ultra-luxe condo towers.

Fast forward to 1979, the Art Deco District in South Beach was listed on the National Register of Historic Places with the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world. The Art Deco District in South Beach is located between 5th and 23rd Streets along Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue and Washington Avenue. So, if you find yourself strolling along one of these well-known streets, you will notice the famed Art Deco architecture on the exterior façade of many of the buildings.
